How To Keep Up With Factory Service Intervals
Service Intervals
Today we’re going to talk about why following recommended service intervals is so important. Cars are very expensive, and we don’t want to have to replace them prematurely. The best way to ensure that you get maximum life out of your vehicle, is to keep up with the factory recommended service intervals.
So why is it so hard for us to remember to follow regular preventive maintenance on our vehicles? There are several reasons I can think of. One is that automotive maintenance items just don’t seem that urgent. Our neighbors can see our dead lawn, but no one knows how dirty our transmission fluid is. It’s easy to put off. And if your car is running well, we don’t tend to think of what may be about to fail. But the biggest reason is it’s just such a hassle. We just don’t have time to take the car in for service. Even when we know it is past time for an oil change.
Well at Northwest Tire & Auto we do everything we can to make it as easy as possible to help you get your car serviced.
We Can Be Quick
We offer “while you wait” service for many routine services like oil changes, tire rotations, even alignments. We can also arrange to pick you up and take you back home or to work if you need a ride.
Keeping It Simple
So you don’t need to memorize your vehicles owner’s manual. You can let your Northwest Auto & Tire service advisor remind you of the guidelines established by the vehicle manufacturer. We have the same service information that you will find in your owner’s manual. So you really can rely on Northwest Auto & Tire to help you make good automotive decisions.
And for those drivers who want to be more proactive with their vehicle care, here are some simple ways for you to remember what has a maintenance interval.
First: Fluids. If it’s liquid, it’s got a replacement schedule. Oil, transmission fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, differential fluid, etc.
Then think tires. They need air, rotation, balancing and alignment. And while you’re thinking tires, don’t forget brakes and shock absorbers.
Your vehicle needs clean air and clean fuel to run properly. So air and fuel filters need replacement occasionally. Fuel systems also need cleaning, but not very often. Of course there are more items, but if car owners remember to take their vehicle in to Northwest Auto & Tire for regular maintenance, their service advisor will help them with the rest.
So what if you don’t follow recommended service intervals? Well you get lousy fuel economy, your vehicle doesn’t run as well, your safety is compromised and you’ll spend more money in the long run. It’s the same as everything else: The quality of your motoring life takes a hit and it ends up costing you more.
